I too had trouble with the attachment ring breaking. The product has value but is fragile. You can easily break the plastic attachment if you pull it too much. I am going to look at the newer wider version to see if it's attachment point is stronger.

These really did the trick on the flapping awning fabric. 5 minute install with no tools, works like a champ.

I've got 6 sets of these little guys for 2 campers (3+3) and have found they work great. And yes if your not smart enough to tighten them they will come off. And as for the straps not being long enough I've had them on mine from day one when my campers were new and kept the awinings pulled to the sides. So as far as I see it learn how to use the item before you say its junk. Also to help keep my awning tight I do have rafters 2 for my 25 footer and just 1 in my 20 foot awning. With those and the de-flappers my awnings take most any wind even the strongest ones.

These do not stay on in a high wind.......had to reattach them several times on my last campout! :o(
